Access

Kasugaoka is accessible from three stations, JR Ibaraki, Hankyu Ibaraki, and Unobe (monorail). It takes around 5 minutes to walk from JR Ibaraki, around 25 minutes to walk from Hankyu Ibaraki, and about 20 minutes to walk from Unobe station.

There are two supermarkets and several convenience stores near to Kasugaoka High School. The supermarkets are Maruyasu and Satake.

Ice-cream: Maruyasu has 44 kinds but Satake only has 15.
Rice Balls: Maruyasu has 14 kinds but Satake only has 7. However, Satake sells hand-made rice balls. They are delicious. The price of rice balls at Maruyasu varies depending upon the size and type. In general, Maruyasu is cheaper but Satake is closer.

There are several convenience stores near to Kasugaoka. Seven Eleven is the closest (about a one minute walk). It is very convenient for students who practice clubs on the weekend. It has an eat-in area and free WiFi. There is also a Daily Yamazaki near the station which has a good selection of fresh bread products and an eat in area where you can sit with your friends and use the free WiFi.

There is also a 100 yen shop nearby where you can get things you need for school very cheaply. It is also useful when building things for the culture festival. You can get many things there from pens and notebooks to locker keys, paint and almost anything you can imagine.

There is a sports shop near Kasugaoka called Himalaya. This is very useful for people from the athletics and other sports clubs. Students often buy things which are necessary for practice from there. Sometimes students can get a discount if they are buying things for clubs so Kasugaoka students are very lucky.

Aeon Mall Ibaraki (aka MiCal) is about 15 minutes' walk from Kasugaoka High School. It is very convenient and many students go there after school to eat something or to just hang around in the food court. There is also a cinema there where you can go on dates or visit with friends. There is a Baskin Robbins 31 Ice Cream which is very popular with the students, as is McDonalds.


Ritsumeikan University is about a 10 minute walk from Kasugaoka High School. This is very convenient for students who graduate from Kasugaoka and want to attend university near their homes. Also, there is a large park and free space in the university which Kasugaoka students sometimes use to hang out with friends or for studying. There is also a Starbucks there so you can sit and relax with a coffee and use it to chat with your friends but it is expensive so only for a special treat!

You can also get a bus to Expo City in Suita very easily. It is another very large shopping mall and there are many good shops there. Some Kasugaoka students enjoy going there on the weekend or in their free time with friends. It is a 20 minute bus ride from JR Ibaraki station.
