Chronological History of Osaka Prefectural Senyo High School

May 1874: A women's vocational training center, the precursor to the school, was established within the Akitokou Shrine at 1 Chome Kaicho Higashi, Sakai City.

January 1888: The institution became the Sakai Women's School under the jurisdiction of Sakai Ward.

April 1, 1900: Renamed as Sakai Municipal Sakai High School for Girls, marking its official founding year.

April 1, 1912: Transitioned to Osaka Prefectural Sakai High School for Girls.

April 30, 1921: Extended the course duration to five years.

March 1938: Completed the first phase of reinforced concrete construction for the school building.

July 1945: The school building was completely destroyed during the Sakai air raid.

December 1945: Classes resumed in a temporary facility at the Osaka Aluminum Company's youth school until May 1948.

April 1948: Following educational reforms, Osaka Prefectural Sakai High School for Girls merged with Osaka Prefectural Sakai Junior High School and Sakai Municipal Sakai High School for Girls to form Osaka Prefectural Senyo High School, initiating co-educational learning.

February-March 1953: Established the "School Song" and "School Flag."

October 15, 1960: Introduced the "Student Song," with lyrics commissioned from Mr. Fuyue Anzai as part of the 60th-anniversary celebrations.

March 1962: Commenced the reconstruction of the school building into reinforced concrete, a project completed over eight phases by 1972.

October 2, 1971: Unveiled the "Akiko Poem Monument" during the 70th-anniversary events.

October 13, 1990: Held the 90th-anniversary commemorative ceremony.

November 18, 2000: Celebrated the 100th-anniversary with a special ceremony.

October 29, 2010: Observed the 110th-anniversary with a commemorative event.
